This is so beautiful and relatable, in many ways. Have you read Borges’ short story, “Funes, the Memorious”? It’s about a man who remembers everything, and thus nothing has any meaning because *everything* is memorable. Thank you for writing.

Per usual, I completely connected with your piece (and of course loved your amazing writing) - as you know, it's a subject near and dear to my heart. With my mom's ALZ disease, I had a big realization one day, during COVID, when I took her to the beach. I realized, on a beautiful day at Chrissy field, with the gorgeous GG bridge in the distance, cute dogs playing on the beach, shining sun and blue sky framing the whole scene - that she wouldn't remember that moment. But she was smiling, enjoying it, and was 'in the moment'. The quote, "Tomorrows are not promised" made me realize also the "Memories are not promised". So your insight was exactly like that - thank you for reminding me of that important message! (and have a great trip!) G-lo
